There hasn’t been much of an update from me and all I have to say for myself is I have felt pretty low, even murderous, quite frequently in the last three weeks. But I know much of that is stress and exhaustion speaking. In between exhaustion, during my spurts of energy, I’ve been enjoying a lot of time by trying to recoup, going out with Kate, hanging out with co-workers and doing a lot of biking.
Even bigger news, I was invited back to school last Friday to speak to students about my experience in the world world and talk about portfolios. Rob, my partner in crime, and I were both invited to share our experience in the profession and offer insight about portfolios. It was just a year ago when our professors sent us to Dallas to be amongst other students in a national student design conference. Now we’re professionals.
Well, we had lots to speak about and people were engaged. A few people were kind enough to express how inspired they are by our work and work ethic. That itself is enough to keep me going. When I’m low on fuel, feeling like I’ve been running a marathon at a full sprint, putting in long hours, it’s the little gestures like the aforementioned that keep me moving, aiming to teach others, learn from others and to inspire them. Yes. It sounds cheesy but it’s true. God knows I didn’t go into design for the money.
Here’s an image of Rob and me, reunited, doing our design thing.
