RIP Olympus XA

This past weekend, my bestestest friends came up to SF to chill. During one of our late nights, we decided to watch The Bridge, a documentary of suicides that take place at the Golden Gate Bridge.

Coincidentally, some time in August, my strap broke and my Olympus XA rangefinder plummeted and hit the ground hard while giving Jun’s woman a tour on the bridge (she now lives in NY). Since then, I developed at least one roll of film after “fixing it.” Yesterday I took out my XA to snap some photos while the weather was awesome. It just wasn’t working. There was a loose piece inside.

In spite of a broken Olympus XA, I took out my old friend, the Lomo LC-A. I miss my Olympus. I am going to start keeping an eye out to secure another one. Unlike the Olympus XA2, which sells for $25 to $30 on eBay, the XA sells for $75 to $100+. I love my Olympus XA. It performs way better than my Lomo.

While Kate was looking over my shoulder, I directed my browser to eBay and typed in Leica M6. I clicked the first one I saw. Clicked BUY IT NOW. And I heard Kate gasp for air. Oh the silliness. But yes. I would love a Leica M6. Hmm. Grooms gift maybe?
