San Diego was a blast! Friday was a big day for my mom; so much pressure was riding her shoulders and she’s been constantly studying 2 weeks prior, thus, explaining my grumpiness caused by the lack of good food to eat around the house. When I came home from San Diego last night, I was suprised to see baked salmon waiting for me. I was excited. See…my mom took her real estate license test (it’s her part-time job) and we found out she passed it today. I woke up from a half-hour nap hearing my mom sobbing or something…i just knew something was up. I went into her room and she was so happy that she passed the test and it instantly became a family moment. Of course, I was last to arrive.
I even went to church last Sunday to pray that her hard work pays off–it’s been a few months or so since I’ve last attended church. When did St. John’s turn into a Christian church. Besides my utter confusion, I am very happy for my mom and I feel well-relaxed to come back to the stupid pressures of school. Well…I noticed everybody is joining a frat downsouth…so..I;ve decided to come to better terms with my current frat and upgrade. From Alpha Beta Pi Squared (Jeff and Jun) a new transformed Alpha Theta Pi Squared Phi Alpha Beta Lucky’s Charlie Delta Nguyen is in progress.

I parted ways with an old friend I’ve had since junior year. I remember buying an unopened, brand new Rio 500 from Christy’s brother who stole the mp3 player from an unbatched UPS or FedEx delivery package. That mp3 player lasted me rainy walks home, all sorts of walks, in between periods, boring parties and senior prom. Since the Rio 500 was of course, like all eletronics, becoming outdated, my mind was in a mode for an upgrade so I asked for a brand new Rio with 128 mb built-in memory vs. the 64 mb I started out with. Despite my history with mp3 players, the RIO just plainly sucked and I upgraded that to a 128 mb Samsung Yepp that didn’t need a special Rio backpack battery like the 128 mb did. August of this year, I encouraged Jhun to buy one and he got the Iriver which has the best reviews for portable mp3 players and I was encouraged to upgrade my 128mb Samsung into the Iriver 390t (256 mb). Jun got the 128.
Well…today, I parted ways with the concept of mp3 players. In fact, I didn’t sleep ’til 3am because of hours of research and anxiety (and since Kate was playing Toontown til 2). Today, with the price I paid for the Iriver, I bought two Sony Minidisc players and I love it–one for me and one for Kate. Later, I encouraged Jhun (the thought did linger his head too) to exchange his mp3 player for the same MD player. NOW WE ALL HAVE the same MD player. Well…now I have a copy of my most listened-to CDs in the form of a mini cd. All my Incubus on one MD, Zeppelin, Audioslave, Foo Fighters, Postal Service and Chili Peppers in another and Radiohead in another. Rather than dreading the songs I have stored on the mp3 player and having to transfer, I just need to insert another MD.
This is Kate’s first portable audio device. She’s excited. Jhun is excited for the same reasons I am. 4 years of mp3 player and I just made the switch to a USB MiniDisc player; it felt like switching religions.
